SPRING SPORTS UPDATE!

By Heidi Martin - Rec Board Admin

Dear CSCR Families,

As you know, the Rec Board has been meeting frequently to stay on top of the latest sporting developments during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a great deal of information in this message so please be sure to read it in its entiretyPlease email all questions and concerns to cscrboard@gmail.com.

SPRING SPORTS – The CSCR Rec Board and its Baseball and Softball Committees have been working hard to provide a modified spring season. Unfortunately at this time we have made the difficult decision to cancel all spring sports effective immediately.

This was not an easy decision for any member of the board and did not come without a great deal of debate. We would not be in the positions that we are in if we did not want to see kids playing sports. The decision was made based on the surrounding communities as well as Metro Baseball and Tri-County Softball not having games until July. For this reason we are cancelling all organized spring activities, including practices. The plan moving forward will be to start Fall Softball earlier (see below) and consider adding Fall Baseball if an area league develops.

REFUNDS – All registered players will receive their jerseys and an $80 refund. Refunds will start June 18th and may take 4-6 weeks to process. We ask for your patience while we work with our vendor Sports Engine to process the over 200 registrations. We will be offering another option to purchase PantherBall tickets in lieu of a refund (see below). If you are interested in purchasing PantherBall tickets, please email us at cscrboard@gmail.com by June 17th with the number of tickets you would like to purchase.

PANTHERBALL – Even without a baseball season the CSCR Baseball Committee is working to keep the PantherBall tradition moving forward.  In its first year in 2019 PantherBall raised over $7,000 to be used for equipment and field improvements! With the cancellation of volleyball, softball and baseball, funding raising for our programs has become a top priority. Proceeds from this year’s PantherBall will benefit all of the programs that CSCR offers.

How does it work? If you choose to use your refund to help support the Rec, we will mail you up to four $20 PantherBall raffle tickets. Half of all the funds from ticket sales will be given away in a series of drawings at the CSCR Rec Golf Outing be planned for September 12th at Pheasant Hills Golf Course. If you would like to purchase PantherBall tickets using your spring sports refund, please email us at cscrboard@gmail.com by June 17th with the number of tickets you would like to purchase. All purchased tickets will be mailed within 3-4 weeks. Details about additional ways to purchase or help sell tickets will be available soon.

FALL SOFTBALL - We are hopeful for the start of our Fall Softball season.  Tri-County has elected to move forward the start of the season two weeks. The Rec Board has decided to start our Fall Ball season July 1st, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Registration will be $100 and will be for girls born 2002-2013. We will be opening registration as quickly as we can, but in the meantime, please visit our updated web page for more information:  https://www.centralstcroixrec.com/fallballsoftball.

We appreciate the patience of our community as we work together to navigate our constantly changing "new normal." Please make sure to email us at cscrboard@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns. Stay safe!

Best,

CSCR Board
