A recreational softball league for girls in 3rd grade through 9th graders born after December 31st. Pitching and base stealing are added at this level. An umpire calls balls and strikes. The goal of the program is to provide a positive environment in which participants enjoy playing softball and continue to improve skills.
The season runs approximately from May to the end of July, with registration typically starting in December and closing in January of each year. Participants must register according to the league description. Those who knowingly misstate information may be dropped from the program. In some cases the age groups may be combined or divided up depending on the number of participants.
Practice times and games will vary based on field availability and the schedules of the other teams we will be playing. Home games will be played at the Roberts Park, Hammond Park or at the SCC school fields.
Coaches will notify participants via phone or email regarding the first practice. Coaches will hand out schedules as soon as available or you will be able to check the website for more information.
Practices and evaluations for girls U10-U14 will be held in February. Team assignments will be made based on assessments and birthdates. Team rosters will be shared approximately 3 weeks after assessments due to late registrations, makeup assessments, and a softball committee meeting to review rosters. An additional $50 fees will apply if a player is invited to join a Tri-County team.
In February, coaches will hold assessments, the purpose being:
-Coaches will learn who is interested in pitching and catching to make sure all
teams have a pitcher and catcher
-Meet potential new coaches – explain both leagues, answer questions
-Discuss equipment and what’s needed
-Try on uniforms
-Assessment scores will determine who will play Tri-County or In-House League (also depends on which league the majority of girls prefer/collective skill level)
- Girls unable to attend assessments may attend a makeup date if coaches/director notified prior to assessment date
- Kids with injuries will be placed on team based on previous coaches assessment of skill level
Registration will be based on grade student is CURRENTLY IN at time of registration
